We survived our first day in Brazil! We started off by having an amazing breakfast at our resort. It was much different then what we normally eat. They had an assortment of cakes including carrot, coconut, sweet corn, and banana walnut. It was different but it was nothing like we had ever eaten. Along with the food they had fresh squeezed juices. It was like they just picked it right off the tree and squeezed it right into the glass. After that we took a walk around the resort which was filled with breath taking views. They had a basketball court so it was right in our comfort zone. When we got back we immediately changed into our bathing suits and lounged by the pool for about two hours. To say the least half of the team looks like a lobster now after only about an hour and a half. By that time we had worked up an appetite so we headed to the dinning room to eat lunch. They served us vegetables, fish, pasta, rice, and a coco pie like dessert. Once we had eaten we all gathered on the bus to go to a clinic where we went to show kids how to play basketball. When we arrived they looked at us like celebrities. We spent time working with about ten girls while over 200+ kids watched us. It was really cool because after we showed them how to play they showed us how to play handball. It was different being on the other end trying to understand a sport that they were so used to playing. They definitely beat us because we were all over the place. After the clinic every kid wanted us to give them our autographs and wrist bands. They would follow us once we left the school down into the city and we couldn't get away from them. People wanted our pictures and wanted to trade clothes. It was wild!! We got to walk around before dinner and the city was beautiful. There were stray dogs everywhere so you could almost say that they are the squirrels of Brazil. After about an hour of touring the city we ate dinner at the little restaurant in the city. The food is even better than we could have imagined. Everything is made fresh and has an entirely different taste. You have not eaten good food until you have been to Brazil! Well until tomorrow Chao!!
